HUMAN TRAFFICKING: Air Peace, NAPTIP Move Against Human Trafficking

Mr Allen Onyema, the Chairman of Air Peace, has said the airline will partner with the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, in the agency’s task of checking human trafficking and providing jobs for victims of the illicit trade.
The Chairman stated this when the Director-General of NAPTIP, Mrs Julie Okah-Donli, visited the airline and conferred it with an award for providing a platform for checking trafficking in persons.
Okah-Donli presented Onyema and some crew members with medals for foiling an attempt to traffic a three-month-old boy using the airline’s Lagos-Banjul flight on June 4, 2018. The NAPTIP DG said the baby was brought back to Nigeria on March 19 and is currently under the care of NAPTIP, while the agency is working with the Gambian authorities to extradite the suspects.
Onyema said Air Peace would collaborate with NAPTIP as part of its support for the Federal Government’s efforts in curbing human trafficking in Nigeria.
He said the airline would also provide jobs for victims of human trafficking as part of ways of assisting NAPTIP to rehabilitate them.
